Kim & Rob Orwin (otherwise known as Kimmi & Berti Custard) - started Custard Create in 2013 when Kimmi began to get a taste for digital art after already using her artistic talents for many years in the form of photography/photoshop and traditional art mediums.
We started out selling our artwork on an artisan market stall in Huddersfield which was held once a month. From then, as our artwork style was pretty popular, we began to get commission work from all sorts of people and word spread. We have had all sorts of commissions, from pets, to people, to houses and other buildings and these have been done in many different styles - we like to find out what you have in your head and then transpose it into a piece of Personalised art worthy of any wall!
In July 2019 after Kimmi was made redundant from a job in management, we decided it was time to follow our dream and open an art studio/shop/create space in the beautiful Piece Hall, in Halifax, the hometown of the famous Anne Lister of Shibden Hall. We envisaged this space to be somewhere where the local community and other visitors can come in and get creative or just have a browse amongst Kimmi's colourful works of art!
Our lovely little space is situated on the upper floor of The Piece Hall and has a wonderful view of the beautiful building which surrounds us! Steeped in History, this wonderful place is an inspiration to us every single day and is a fabulously zen place in which to work and to create more and more artwork! After being captivated with the building since Kimmi was about 5 years old after visiting with her Grandparents, we can't quite believe that we have such a lovely shop in this amazing place!
As well as selling our artwork and doing personalised commissions/artwork for people, we sell a variety of gifts that will enable you to get creative and also have a create space where you can pop in and do some crafting/themed workshops! For themed workshops, please check out our events listings on our Facebook page.
